How’s Your “Alignment?”

skidsIf a car’s wheels are out of alignment, it makes it difficult to maintain its ability to stay on the road.  Likewise, if an organization’s culture is out of alignment, it makes it difficult to achieve their desired results.

The corporate Vision (what we want to be) and Mission (why we want to be there) are all well and good – even essential – but if they do not get translated into the organization’s Strategic Priorities, Operational Goals, Departmental Targets, and eventually the Individual Performance Goals, you will never reach your intended destination.

The biggest causes of misalignment are in an organization’s systems, and communication and accountability practices.  These have a profound effect on the business’ culture.
